The 16th edition of the ITECHMER exhibition is more than ever the unmissable event for professionals in the fishing industry. At a press conference held today at the Palais des Congrès in Lorient, the organisers unveiled the programme and new features for this anniversary edition, which will focus on collective commitment to sustainable and forwardlooking in the industry.
In this ‘Année de la Mer’ (Year of the Sea) and with the centenary of the port of Lorient-Keroman approaching, ITECHMER 2025 is a platform for solutions to the major challenges facing the sector. The French fishing fleet needs to be renewed and modernised, and the industry faces multiple challenges: energy transition and energy costs; reducing the impact of fishing gear on the environment; making the profession more attractive; sustainable fishing and food sovereignty. In this context, the exhibition focuses on the dynamics of modernisation and decarbonisation, selectivity and valorisation. Not to mention a central place for professionals, who come from all over the French coastline and overseas territories such as New Caledonia and Mayotte; because ITECHMER, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is above all the ‘salon des pêcheurs’ (fishermen’s exhibition). The full programme for
the event, which will be held from 15 to 17 October 2025, is designed to address these issues and will be structured around three key themed days :
- Wednesday 15 October: ‘French fishing: a diverse and sustainable industry’
- Thursday 16 October: ‘Climate and transitions: the sea, a driver of innovation’
- Friday 17 October: ‘Fisheries policy: what direction for the future?’
The tradeshow, which will bring together nearly 200 exhibitors and expects 6,000 French and international visitors, will be a showcase for innovation and will highlight an entire industry focused on innovation. ITECHMER 2025 will be held under the two labels ’La mer en commun‘ (The sea in common) and ’Journée de l’innovation maritime’ (Maritime Innovation Day) by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forestry and the Sea. They said :
FABRICE LOHER, PRESIDENT OF LORIENT AGGLOMÉRATION AND MAYOR OF LORIENT « This trade show is now an unmissable event, coming at a time when we are in the midst of transitions for European, French, and Breton fishing industries. The sector is facing fundamental challenges in terms of ecological transition, attractiveness of jobs, training for young people, and innovation. These challenges also include the revision of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) at the European level and issues of access to resources,
particularly in British waters, which require a firm stance from the European Union. It is precisely in response to these challenges that Itechmer plays such an important role, offering innovative solutions to support these developments. »
OLIVIER LE NÉZET, PRESIDENT OF CNPMEM (FRENCH NATIONAL FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE COMMITTEE) « Itechmer is France’s leading event dedicated to technologies, equipment and services for the fishing industry. It is also the ideal forum for those working to build a sustainable and responsible fishing industry. This future depends on research, innovation and ongoing investment in navigation, propulsion, capture and decision-making tools, among others. These efforts are absolutely necessary to ensure the sustainability of our professions and our food sovereignty. »
CHRISTOPHE AUDO, FISHERMAN FROM LORIENT « Itechmer has been bringing together the entire industry for many years, enabling fishermen and the suppliers that support them throughout their activities to meet, innovate, strengthen their collaboration, and look in the same direction. This trade -fair is an important moment for our industry. »
PASCAL REVERSEAU, DIRECTOR OF MORGÈRE « In ITECHMER’s 30 years of existence, we have been privileged witnesses to the evolution of practices and equipment. Our long-standing commitment is to support fishermen in adopting fishing gears that have less impact on the environment. It is by combining the experience of the past with the technology of tomorrow that we will build the fishing industry of the future together. »
FRÉDÉRIC NEUMAN, NAVAL ARCHITECT « The future of the industry depends on the energy transition of its fleets. As a new exhibitor, ITECHMER offers us a unique platform to present our decarbonisation solutions. It is an essential forum for exchanging ideas with professionals and fishermen and building ships that meet both economic and ecological requirements. »
